Here's a thought:
The salesman made a joke, but the customer (didn't get it, was insulted, etc...).
Maybe the thought was- 'we are normal people, not privileged or elite, or snobby, like other German car owners!'.

Ya' know, just a thought....

I think it's excellent humor. And it's applicable today since nobody seems to know how to lighten up any more. These days, somebody would have gotten sued because the customer was teased with a laughing beetle toy as a child.

I bought a real nice sports car book when I was in Italy last week, it had a section on porsches.....in the specs for motor it said...VOLKSWAGEN.so sweet.wish it was printed in English so I could read it all, but that portion was eazy to read, I wonder what a porsche prick would say when they read it...
