Does anyone know what rivets were used to hold on the rails and where I might find these? Would like to repair mine and put it back in the van.

Clara uses tubular steel rivets when she makes those panels - they are the same ones she uses for the cab dividers. You install them with a clincher tool. They look very close to the originals when they are installed.
I think they are close to 5/32". |

Many thanks Greg, appreciate the reply. I will see what I can find over here. Hope you are well. All the best, Rich. _________________ 1954 Barndoor

I have these (understood to be) original Barndoor rails. They are 610mm long. They still have a lot of their original rivets in place.
2 rails are black (Kombi?).
The other 6 look to be the lower body colour of a brown/brown Standard BD.
How do you specify rivets? Heads are approx 7mm diameter (with a hole), tails approx 8mm diameter (no hole).
Were these rails also used on accessory cab dividers?
Are these rails 50-55 specific, or were they also used for later years? _________________ -StockRocks- |

I haven't had a look at my originals but according to RS's photos I'd say they are 2 piece rivets like those used for the ashtray mounts. One "capped" side and one uncapped side , they mate together and need to be crushed to secure. Can kinda see in the photo in my ads

They were not used on Kombis for the back deck - Kombis were bare metal back there.

I have seen campingbox say in the past the rails are the same as the rails used on Panelvan cab dividers. This is on post-Barndoor Buses too.
I do not know if the length is the same, maybe he can answer that. _________________ How to Post Photos
