40hp valve help

Hello all, I have a problem. I just replaced the heads on my 40hp. The old head had bad rocker studs and were cracked on top of it. I obtained a set of replacement heads, I had the heads gone thru to make sure they were right. Problem I am having is I cannot get the no.1 cyl exhaust valve to adjust. The rocker is binding against the valve spring retainer. My thought is mayne the rockers need to be shimmed up from the head. I wanted to ask for advice here first as I am sure this has been seen before, thanks n advance

Hi. Check to see if the bottom of the rocker arm isn't contacting a cylinder head stud and/or nut.

If your new heads have the rocker arm stud repair inserts, this thread says there is supposed to be a washer between the rocker and the boss (at least that's the way I read it).

Could this be your issue?
