This is my wife's '69 Bug. 2.2 Ecotec, bug trans with close ratio gears, power steering, four wheel disc brakes, Thing spindles, extended rear trailing arms, 235/75R15 tires all around. We don't really take it off-road much, but it's a blast to drive on the street.

rockcrawl, 2 questions:

1.) who made your fenders/hood/deck lid?

2.) did your Ecotec come with some sort of stand alone engine management system? Or did you have to adapt something from another car?

The fenders are from Mark V. Quality seems OK, but the rears required trimming on the lips and trailing edges to make them straight and symmetrical. The hood and deck lid are original steel, I trimmed them down, wire-beaded the edges, and hammered in the detail lines on the hood. The hood from Mark V was garbage, and I've never liked the look of the fiberglass rear spoilers.

I reprogrammed the GM ECM and modified the factory wiring harness for the Ecotec. I build custom cars for a living, specializing in engine swaps.

Yeah, it was the fit of your hood and the shape of your deck lid that really caught my attention--my biggest beef with the bug-eyed bajas is usually the fit of the hood, it's normally so bad and is the number one reason why I don't want a bug-eye. I like yours, though, and that ecotec install looks really good to me, too. One more question, where did you put the radiator?

The radiator is right in front of the engine. I'll start a separate post-build thread about the car so I'm not cluttering up the picture thread with details.

My first air cooled project! 1961 pan / 68 body with some issues but starts and runs strong. Excited to dig into it.

This is my little ride, just picked it up. Have barely driven it yet. It is a work in progress, as it seems most are.

1972 Baja 1914 GEX engine. Dual Kadrons. 3x3 trailing arms. Fox shocks. Bus transaxle with 930 CV joints and chrome molly axles. Got this bug for free with a title! it had a straight body but the fenders and both deck lids were shot so I bought a Baja bug for $50 with no title and combined the two.
