Does anyone know what the retaining ring looks like on a pinion shaft?
If your looking at the VW manual page 13-3 it is #3 not #5. It looks almost solid. Any ideas or help would be much appreciated.

#3 is the front mainshaft bearing retaining ring. Part number N20 420 1.
20mm ID, 1.2mm thick. Standard hardware.
