We aren't there yet, but we are getting close to the million mile oil change (at least for compressors and other non combustion machinery).

With most engines you don't gain much by changing the oil already. I changed the oil in my old 1800 T4 annually for many years and it still died from a dropped valve seat at 250K miles and not because of a lubrication problem. Twice the number of oil changes would not have given it a day of extra life. The cam while certainly not new didn't even look that bad.

I do run an improved crankcase ventilation system which keeps my oil noticeably "drier" than the factory ventilation system was capable of.
