My 59 bus has got IRS and 66> (I believe) Type 3 rear brakes with the 4 stud pattern although I stand to be corrected on the origin.

The parking brake has not been attached since I've had her and as I'm sat here working away from home I'm trying to get a load of bits together to try and make it work.

Has anyone successfully achieved this with off the shelf stuff? I was (probably rather hopefully) hoping to get some bits ordered ready for my return at the weekend and it magically work. Very Happy

Chud,
Do you have e-brake cables installed?
What is missing?
Can you obtain verification of the type... or post pictures of... your backing plates/brakes?

Your signature line "59 slammed kombi" & having IRS... lends to the inquiry...
have you read any of the sticky?:How to lower a Bus and all lowering questions
I'm sure I remember seeing something about Type 3 brakes there.

I haven't read that sticky no - probably should. Very Happy

The cables on there are the original bus items and have been chopped off. I'll see if I have any pics though. So far I've resorted to ordering a late bus cable which I believe is longer and a load of type 3 bits but as I'm not familiar with type 3 rear brakes I'm not sure how it'll work.

If the brakes are type 3. Then most likely you will need type 3 parking brake cables and splice those into the front end of the old bus cables you have.

Would help to have images...
