What are your thoughts on the absolute best shocks for both front and rear for a Manx style buggy? I had previously purchased the cheap coil over type but have heard through many people that they are way too stiff for a buggy. Could you please explain why you like the particular ones you do and give specifics on the brand/kind/size/model/best place to buy, etc. I don't want to have to blow the bank on them but will If it gives me a really good result and cushy ride. Thank you very much. |

The stiffness of your torsion bars has a lot more to do with the quality of the ride in a buggy than the shocks. The front end of buggys are so light you really only want the shocks to dampen the rebound
For the front you want the softest shocks you can find. Some well used non-gas charged are the best. The back isn't as critical
If there's a bug in a junkyard near you and it has a set of straight hydraulic shocks, that's the set you need |

One of the best places to gather information is to use the search tool on this site. There are 300+ threads on shocks on buggys.
All you need to do is balance the tire pressure, internal valving, damping fluid, and torsion rate to get the ride you desire.
Some of us get right quickly and there some who never get it figured out.
For my buggy it was the combination of using a pair of old, old stock VW shocks, and lowering the PSI from 28 to 17. I have pulled the front down as low as I can get it. Some folks find that all they need to do is lower the air pressure, or maybe modification with the torsion leaves is needed.
There is no sure fire way to satisfy all of the questions. Just click on the search box and settle in for several night of reading. You will be surprised at the amount of knowledge you gain. |

I buy most from eshocks.com. I bought bilstein 7100. Rebuildable, can change valving, oil viscosity, and nitrogen pressure to make them just how YOU like them. |

For a lightweight street Dunebuggy that probably weighs less then 1400 Lbs. the cheapest oil filled shocks from the local auto parts store is all you need. I also soften up the ride by running 16-18 PSI in the front and 20-22 PSI in the rear. _________________ 2017 Street Comp Champion - Thunder Valley Raceway Park - Noble, OK
