Hello guys. I have a 67 Type1 convertible project at hand. The car came identified by the PO with a 67 "H0" engine. While examining the engine serial number I found it didn't fit the serial number group for Type1. I entered a Forum question in the Type1 group and they are saying that it appears that it is, in fact a 66 Type2. The engine serial number is H0113534.
The Generator is stamped 0101302061, 7V 45A 131903021. The pulley dia is about 109mm. The engine has been sitting in a garage since 1982 and is basically unmolested. It still has the speed control on the carb. I have attached a few pictures. I'd like a confirmation from you guys that restore the Type2's, that this is in fact a Type2. The Type1 guys are saying there is enough difference, besides being 6 volt vs the 12Volt for Type1 that I'd be better off selling this engine and looking for a Type1. Any other info I might need to know? Thanks

If the case halves part numbers down by the pushrod tubes starts with a 2, it's a bus motor. |

not sure what the huge difference would be why it wouldn't be fine in a beetle?
manifold?
certainly only a bus guy would need/want the governor, but the rest of the motor is just a motor _________________ regards

A Type 1 1966 would still be 6V. 12V started in 1967 AFAIK.
But as Mandraks said, the intake and governor go together for a bus otherwise the rest is pretty much interchangeable between a bus and beetle.
Strange that the dipstick is red. That was a beetle 1960 thing. |

I have several 60's era beetle blocks- and could use a 66 bus motor- PM me and tell me what you are looking for. _________________ some days I get up and just sit and think. Some days I just sit.

this is a duplicate thread.
original thread here: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=671895
as i said in the first thread, get this engine to someone looking for a '66 BUS engine (like the guy who posted in that thread and contacted you about it), and don't go messing it up trying to make it work in your 67 BEETLE. _________________ thebucket: I invested in hoodride, now DBD won't return my call?
