Is M12x1.5 the correct thread size for 67 and earlier T1's? This information is surprisingly difficult to find. Thanks.

It's actually very easy to find, but here it is anyway:

'67 down (wide 5) is 12mm x 1.5

'68 up (4 bolt) is 14mm x 1.5

Thanks, Keith, maybe I just wasn't using the right search terms. I also tried Google. What do folks recommend for lug pins to hang the wheel on while staring the other lug bolts?

I just use my feet to move the wheel around to line up the bolt holes

Once you've done it a few times and get the hang of it, it isn't that hard.

I sit on the ground (if it's not on my lift), put the wheel in between my legs and lift it with my shins or feet. I will put one lug bolt in loose to get started and then adjust the wheel to put another in and seat it finger tight and the the rest just go easily.

Thanks, guys, that's what I used to do in "the old days". I had an '84 BMW that came with a pin you would thread into the lug hole. That would be so much easier on these tired old bones. Very Happy

You could always find a stud or a bolt and cut the head off of it and thread that in to help you.

They do sell threaded studs for the drums, you could buy them to use as your assistant to put the proper lug studs in.

I've also always used my feet.

That's actually a very good idea, can cut a slot to use a screwdriver if needed. One would just need one. I think I'll make one for myself.

Of course we're still jealous that you also have a lift.

Yes, Cusser, that BMW pin had a slot for that. I would LOVE to have a lift!

I bought a pair of these on Ebay, about $12. Tried one for the first time today; worked perfectly, made it nice and easy to put the wheel back on.
