I've made the mistake of wet sanding my notch with 1200 and i believe i screwed up.

its been 1 1/2 years since i painted it. And ive had a peace by the door jam flake right off..

this was PPG 2 stage with the 2010 clear.

What is the best paper or method to use before applying your finish coat?

I've also heard you can use clorox and a gray scotchbrite or something..

Also can you sand down an old sound paint job and simply spray some finish coats??

did you sand with the 1200 to try and correct the chip?

if it just chipped then you should just be able to featheredge with 320,400, then 600 then spray the affected area again, as long as theres no more cracking or chipping

let me clearify, when i wet sanded it, it was completely primed with catalist. but i think i may have smoothed it out to much before i painted it completely.
now all this time later, i bumped the edge of the jam and it chipped off down to the primer.

im thinking the whole car may at one point or another want to chip away since i sanded the original primer so smooth.

oooh, got ya, yea you should never sand the primer with sandpaper smoother than 600, it makes the surface too smooth and the paint wont have anything to "bite" into. all i can say is dont bump it anymore
