I was just trying to recruit new members for our club down here and for our annual show in Moody on September 21.
www.centralalvwclub.com is our club's address if anyone is interested.
By the way, your Bug looks really nice. _________________ All he needed was a wheel in his hand and four on the road. |

Hey Adam,
I remember checking out your webpage a few months back. I am here just north of B'ham. Just picked up my bug a few weeks ago, hope to get some pics of it up soon.
I am planning on making the Sept 21 show. Maybe we can chat while there.

Look for me there. Unless something major happens I'll be there in my light yellow '71 std Beetle. I take drive it everywhere. I'm one of only two young people in the club. _________________ All he needed was a wheel in his hand and four on the road. |

You should bring it to the show. We do have a beater class if that is what your car would fit in! My Baja would probably win it if I could actually drive it up there. My Dad's '73 Beetle won the Beater class last year. My mother put his trophy on the mantle. It was pretty funny.
Our club is really great too if you're interested. You don't have to own a show car to join. If you did I wouldn't be in it! Most of our cars are drivers. One member even has a Bus with a bondoed in windshield and tiger teeth painted on the doors! _________________ All he needed was a wheel in his hand and four on the road. |

Moody is just east of Birmingham. Right off (2-3 miles) interstate 20/59.
And yes it is always good to see more people from Alabama on here.
I was beginning to think I was the only one. |

It is exit 144 off of I-20. We always put signs up the day of the show. The show is about 2 miles off of the exit.
You'd be surpirsed just how many VW people there are in Alabama. I didn't realize just how many there were until we started our club up almost three years ago.
Drive your Volkswagen, any type any condition. We don't care what it looks like. _________________ All he needed was a wheel in his hand and four on the road. |

First off, that's a sweet Bug you have. I just recently found this web-site and it is awesome resource. Wish they would have had something like this when I had my first ride.
I'm glad to see there is such a big VW following here in 'Bama. I live in Fultondale, which is just north of B'ham. Hopefully, I'll get the opportunity to meet some of y'all soon at some of the events.
I don't currently own a VW, but I am in the market for a cheap pre '67 builder right now. I am not new to VW's though, my first car was a '67 Beetle. It was a burnt from an electrical fire. My dad and I "rebuilt" it in our garage over about a six month period. I sold it a few years later, when I got ready to go to college and was sorry to see it go. I haven't owned a VW sense then, but something happened to me lately and now I can't stop thinking about finding another to build/drive.
VWAdam, I've been to your club's web-site and I hope to make it to the show on the 21st. I'm going to be visiting family in Atlanta that weekend and we're are going to try to make it back in time.
If anybody knows of a CHEAP potential project Beetle in the North or Central AL area, please let me know. Thanks!!
