axe, I'm almost positive that the T3 later bumpers are THE SAME as the ones on the later Ghias (model year '72 thru '74)- those (two rear ones as pointed out above) might come up for sale more often than for a T3...

If you find some with decent chrome/not much rust but have some dents in them, you can pound them out carefully by placing the bumper on the ground (cardboard underneath) right where the dent is, placing a ball-peen hammer on the dent, then hitting the other end of the hammer with another hammer. I've read people caution you that the metal-to-metal-contact of both hammers can be dangerous so wear eye protection. Increase the strength of the impact and walk the bottom hammer around the area of the dent. Check the surface after a few hits and continue if needed. Don't over-bang the hits or else you end up with an outward bump. For shallow dents you can try to put the bumper into a bench vise, protecting the bumper with some thin strips of hard wood, and evening out the dent with the vise.

Hmm... After looking around a bit it seems that the later Ghia bumpers are indeed very similar! And the width of a Ghia is spot-on with my Golf. Thanks for all your help! I'll keep you posted if I manage to sort those bumpers Wink Very Happy

Late model Ghias and Type 3 share the ugly snowplow bumpers.

I don't know -- Brilliant White, against a Kobalt Blue background.... sounds pretty to me...

I can see how they aren't the ideal choice for a Type III, but they will serve me well Cool
