WOWOWOWOWOWOWOW... Looks Great! I wish my bug was the same... I just purchased my clip and the mechanism.

I'm about to do my 72. The question is this... Once you complete the ragtop and it's all set... Where or how do we install the headliner? Some people say there is a kit for it, some others say I have to take it to a shop to get it done and some others say I can do it my self. Where do I start once the project is read for headliner???

I want to cover all areas so I don't have to be running around trying to find sources and delay my project.

Thanks.

you can either buy a headliner replacement for ragtops from CIP1.com or have a pro install it. your call.

I think the headliner is 75 bucks. I reccomend getting the material one not the vynle. the vynle is too stiff to work with.

Hey Leo, awesome work on the ragtop (and thanks for posting the link to my installation!). I wish I had the supporting brackets that you left in place but unfortunately I didn't....still worked out alright!

Did you install the canvas ragtop yourself or get a pro to do it? I bought one from wolfsburg west, but I'm trying to figure out what to do or headliner.

Cheers, once again great work!

I installed everything myself. The headliner came out great. close to a professional job as it can get. I must admit thought If I had to do it again I would use the tweed material. its easy to work with. No matter how much you let the vynle sit in the sun or hairdry it with a blower some spots stay wrinkled. I also installed the canvas top myself, that was the easy part. just use some 3m contact glue for the front metal support and the rear cross bar.

and yes those supports made it much easier.

The headliner in my ragtop is a mohair style. It was done by David @ H & R interiors in Georgia. The mohair makes it look really nice. Just an option if you don't like the tweed. Looks good Bklyn 63, damn nice car. My wife is always trying to get me to take a trip to New York. I'll watch out for ya if we do.

Got a link where I can order the headline?

I went to cip1.com and this is what they have;

http://www2.cip1.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=162

I've been looking for days now to find complete headliners for ragtops without any luck.

I'm using keyword 'Ragtop Headliner VW Beetle'.

I found the rubbers and the rollers already. All I need is the headliner but don't know where to get it from. I know I have the option to have a pro do it, but I would like to learn my self in the event I need to replace it down the line.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Now I want one! Crying or Very sad But I spent weeks just to get my hardtop strait again....my car used to be a playhouse for little kids. Then after I got it all good, a basketball hoop took a dive right into the middle. No Lie. should've got the ragtop instead. Confused

I think you need the one with 58-63 sunroof (that should be ragtop) there are also more links at the top of that page. (beetle with sunroof). I got my headliner from Sewfine, they asked me if it was a ragtop so i know they have 'em. hope that helps

Blkyn

Question; Is that top canvas or vinyl???
2nd Question; i'm replacing my rag in my 57 v rod, I bought a vinyl top and it seems too small to fit over the front & rear flat bars. I double checked the part # it was good, man they are tight.
How did you get them over???

Those ragtops look great, now I want one! I've heard that if you cut a hole in your hardtop, that your frame may become unstable. Also, that you should not use an aftermarket repo kit??

I used canvas. I know vynle is tighter and doesnt last long.my top slid right on, tightened up the back plate and thats it.

If you weld the top frame in right with the braces it will be fine. Structural ridgidity wont be compromised.
