well the sidemarker is on top of the molding line, the rear license plate light has no S, and is painted not chrome. Also has the z-arm rest on the door panels. has the fold down arm rest in the rear. What do you mean by wrap around dash? I thought they were all the same for type 3. Not sure how to post a pic and i am going to get the vin # but when i checked it was an early 63 model. Looked it up here on Samba.

well from what you state it definately seems like an early car.. hard to tell with no pictures or VIN though of course.

between Everett and Notchboy and the rest of the regulars on here there is alot of knowledge regarding type 3's and alot of interest in the older cars like your '63.

Sure does sound like a 63. And if you looked it up here vin # wise then it should be a 63. What I said before still holds true, time and people change things Wink

Sounds like a '63 that maybe someone added extra moulding trim too.

If the side marker light is up high, it should be a '63 or earlier.

Z arm rests are 61-67. A '63 should have grey arm rests, if they are original.

The fold down arm rest in the rear isn't a year-to-year change.

Post the VIN #...

Your VIN # puts you at June, 1963. 1963 model.

Wrap around dash sample:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

See how the dashboard meets up with the piece of trim above the door panel? 66-up does not do that.

I sent you the info on how to post pics

Just think...you'll save $$ looking for an OG wrap. Now yuo just need a regular old dash. The door panels must be cool though without the Zs. Early style!!! But weird armrests. Are they like oval arm rests?
