Just got a 71 Super Beetle.
Im planning to completely rebuild it from the Ground up.......it came with fenders and quite a few misc parts that are not shown in these pics..
Its pretty rough HAHA, hell its real rough. oh yeah, It was FREE also!
so I can't complain at all. It is rusty in some places and has taken quite a beating, but I feel its still got a few hundred thousand miles left in it when Im done....
Im Married with 3 kids and I am the sole provider for the whole family,so this project is gonna take some time and money which is real short ALWAYS LOL.. Thats why Free or cheap are always in my wanted ads LOL...
anyway.
Im also new here to the Samba. I really like it,everyone has been a great help, and very civilized.....
I just wanted to post up some "Before" Pics! and show everyone what Im up to.

Seats are '71-72, and its got a flat windshield. So it can't be a '73. _________________ My, you've been naughty. How.....Delicious.

Y2K-XJ,
I know just how you feel:

This is my 71 project. You may not be able to tell, but it's a standard. I got it last year and the next step will be a full wiring harness, insulation, then everything else! I've been considering an interior from Sewfine, but recently I saw an advert (in Hemmings) for a place in Maryland that has complete interiors from mexican beetles, and I kinda like the look of the last ones, so maybe I'll go that route.
There is no engine yet, so I'm thinking about a turn-key 1600 or 1776 with dual carb. the tranny is there, although I may go with a freeway flyer instead. Those decisions are too far off in the future.
If you want, drop me a line and I'll laways get back to you. TheSamba is the best place you can go for expertise, or just a pep-talk. Goos Luck with it, and let us know how she turns out. _________________ \X/ Delaware Dave

Can't beat a free VW. I got this 71 super for free back in 2001
And $8k later turned it into this
It'll take some work but I see alot of potential in that super you got. _________________ Yeah I like Herbie AND New Beetles. Got a problem with it? Tough.
