Hey gang,
Here is some pics of the SO44 I was telling some of you about! I just picked it up this last weekend. It is really cool with the unique layout and the Dormobile top. The downside is, it is really rusted. It has been sitting behind the original owner's house since 1980. It was taken on its last trip by the son to Mexico and back, then parked. Apparently the owner was asked to sell it many times, but never would part with it. My friend found it and asked the owner too, but was denied. He heard the fellow died a few months later, waited a couple more months and asked the wife about it. She checked with the family if they wanted it, negotiated a deal and he was the owner. It sat in my friend's yard for a couple years, then he offered it to me a while ago. He wanted it to stay local and wanted to focus on his 54 sunroof Canadian Standard Beetle.
My plans are to go through it and get it running, leaving the body for now and get it back on the road.

Thanks guys,
I've been going crazy with the spray lube on all the hinges, locks and sliding goodies. I'm having a bit of a hard time getting the top to extend all the way and lock in place. From what I've heard it should be tight as a drum when in place, but I don't want to force it too much. It looks like it should have a couple little pins that pop out into the holes on each prop rod. Is this how it works?
Has anybody every seen this particular spare tire mount? It is entirely mounted to the bumper, not the nose which is nice.

My water jug(s) are missing Sad
Maybe I can contact the original owner's family and see if they are in a corner of the garage or something! Apparenty they have the order form and a bunch of pics from travels in Europe, Mexico and the US.
I do have the tent and hanging chandalier though!

Are these the same photos you had at the Vintage meet, Paul, or are they new? I still haven't decided if we're headed up the Great Canadian show or not.

I don't think there were any really rusty photos at the vintage meet, those were the 'glamour' shots. I think he's holding back the good stuff! Put up the photos Paul, I can take it!

Congratulations again Paul, that is a sweet bus. I've seen the photos mentioned, and though intimidating, they are nothing you can't deal with. I know some have suggested getting a dry bus and transfering everything to it, but I would stick with this beauty...I can't figure out how you were able to hold spreading the news about your new bus for so long though! Hope to see it (and you) in person at a WetWesties campout at some point. Regards,

Cris

Some of the photos are new from this last weekend Greg...would be good to see you at the show, but understand if you can't make it!
