My baby is getting dissed in the beetle forum, I need some reasurance that I don't have "the rusty car I have ever seen" as one person said. I don't think it's that bad Sad . I found someone to replace the heater channals and the floor pans. I know the paint job is shotty, but that can be change. Just don't hurt my little babies feelings... Crying or Very sad Oh well, I love it Wink

The first pictures are the car when the previous owner found it in a lot. It is in a new home (my garage) now.

And the car:

It needs a drivers channel, a patch in both front wheel wells, a tiny patch around the window, and a small spot on the rear quarter done. The floors were already replaced when I got it. But everything else in strait and clean, most of the replacement metal came with it, and I have a parts car to cut pieces for the windshield area. The price I paid was less than the guy paid for all the replacement body parts. Besides the holes cut out already, the car is plenty solid enough to be driven until I learn to weld Cool And this car came from North Carolina when the previous owner had it. Don't give up, congrats for saving it! Very Happy

OiOiOi: I meant it in a nice way? Wink I'm from Cali, we're blessed with good cars Razz

To be fair, I've seen a rustier '57 Chevy Pickup that my friend drove around....I refused to drive in it because it was a safety hazard. So cheer up, and slap some duct tape on there! Duct tape fixes anything!

I think rust gives a car charactor...it isn't that spotlessly shiney car...although those are beautiful too. Sometimes rat rods are just as pretty.

So its rusty. Big deal. Fix it! It looks pretty good in those pics. Your on the East Coast, you will be hard pressed to find a car that isn't rough around the edges.....or all over.

I have a link saved on my other computer of THE rustiest P.O.S. I have ever seen. It has pics of the entire restoration for inspiration. When you see it you will wonder why anyone would have bothered taking the time and money to save it but the end result is impressive. I will post the link tomorrow.
