I have an Empi accessory in the original package. It is a glove compartment door pull. It is a few inches wide and attaches with two studs. How much is my junkyard find worth? I paid nothing.

What's it worth? That would be up to you. But I've seen them 4-sale in the original blister package for $50-$80 in the past few months. Can't believe these things were everywhere in the late 90s for only $20
The one to look for is the version with the VW logo etched into it like the one in Bob (53oval) Sowersby's Green 53 Sedan

glenn is right on the price, they even have reached over 100 for perfect cardboard packaging, but is probably pretty rare to find that way

i usually ask 60-75 for mine at todays going rate

It's etched right in the middle of the face. Fairly large font so it's very noticeable. It's the VW logo in a circle.

The story is that Empi with the help of Jeff Walters, had twelve pull-downs engraved and sent to VW to try to obtain the right to produce the pull-down and distribute it with the VW logo. VW said OK but the cost of the engraving was too much for Empi to assorb and VW didn't want to help. Empi backed out and Jeff got six of the pull-downs and Empi kept the other six. Jeff's first wife found them after the divorce and sold them to a VW dealer who kept them for twenty years. Two or three have turned up over the past several years and I was contacted by a collector who had one for sale. I had tried to buy one on different occassions, but was never successful. Last year, a well know collector offered me the the one he had owned for ten years. It was like offering coke to a drug addict. Very Happy

What does Coca Cola have to do with a drug addict? Is it like when a pot-head gets the munchies? Rolling Eyes

A guy named Robert Summers in Hollywood, Florida has been making them for nearly 10 years now. You don't want those things. As you said, REPROS Stick to the Empi version.

There is another style that is original. It is grooved to match 1953-55 door handles. A little less common, but not as expensive (for some reason) like the Empi ones. Here's one mounted to my 55 sedan

So Glenn then the one on Adam Orozcos is one of those from Florida because looking at Vw trends coverage of the last Bad Camberg there was a pic of an oval that had that same one but it looks a little different then the one that guy repops who made the original one or did that guy in Florida start them.

Adam has several repros on his oval. The pull-down is one. Embarassed
