Is this my only problem?.
I had a noise in the rear wheel every time I put on the brake. There was some pulse in the brake . I replaced the brake drum and put silicone spray on the back of the backing plate where it meets the bearing box and the noise is gone. Is this a common problem with the Vanagon or is it future bearing and stub axle replacement. There is no noise at higher speeds.
Thanks |

I have a pulse in the brakes too but I'm nearly ceratin the shop that turned the drums got them an itty bitty bit off-center (or one at least).
No trouble at speed either.
I DID just replace one rear wheel bearing but the howl was obvious and it got worse in a hurry (within 100 miles). Typical.
If your pulsing went away then I'd be pretty happy, myself !

All cars can have problems with warped drums or rotors. If you replaced the drum and its gone, you probably got it.
If your wheel bearing was on its way out, the noise would be constant and would not go away when the brake is applied. _________________ This thread SUCKS!!! |
