not sure about coconut, but I'm pretty sure banana was a factory option
seriously though, do a google search, there are a couple places out there that ,ake them to fit a type 3, a for a factory accessory I think they only offered the rubber ones _________________ Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation eff' leans on the doorbell!

They were indeed a dealer option. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

Well neato! i cant quite remember if they had the VW emblem on them or not....the mats had that old car super-filth, and ya know besides its in Arkansas so i'am gonna guess the pervious owner was not a conniseur of fine german motor cars haha.
i'am looking into buying said fastback (140k on the odometer) havent had a chance to run it through the gears yet but its got a nice clean straight body for $1000,
itll just be hard to let my Toyota MR2 go for something not quite as fast and dangerous. |

hey yeah! those are them, thier just floor mats but i really dig the look of them......something from a long by-gone era of sporty cars.
I wonder why they started using coconuts of all things......maybe after the war they imported some trees to make the place a little sunnier and less dreary |

I have a set too. And I thought I was special... They are cool though, tripped me out when i realized they had the vw logo on them. I heard the mats were supposed to be like air fresheners, the sun during the day was supposed to make them smell good or something, maybe 30 years ago, now mine just smell like feet! _________________ * ---www.volksblast.com--- *

I NEED some exactly like these for the 62 Notch
If anyone feels like sending me some - give us a shout!
please! |
I need two sets like that as well, one for the Type 34, and one for the Notch. There are a couple different versions out there; the set I had in the '66 Square completely covered the hump.
Oldbug. com sells coco mats on this site that would work fine at a great price, but they are red and black, rather than red and white. The 34 is white with a red interior, and the Notch will be restored it the original Ruby Red with silver/ beige interior.
Here's the Oldbug set- they actually look pretty good. I'd probably hop on these in a second if they were red/ white.

Two sets! now that's just greedy Tram!
I've had a look at the oldbug ones and yes- real shame that they don't do the red and white ones! also - when you add on the shipping and tax to get a set to the UK they work out pretty damn pricey for a set of car mats! _________________ Aircooled Apparel

Damn, Charlie, I ship stuff to UK and the EU all the time. It isn't THAT much! Besides, if you want stuff over here, I'm sure that me or someone on here would be happy to pick it up for you and send it over as a 'gift to a friend' on the Customs form. Funny that all the years I've shipped stuff to Germany and Europe uninsured, the only stuff that gets 'lost' seems to be DOMESTIC packages! The USPS just instituted a new policy on international shipments, BTW- they now AUTOMATICALLY insure ALL overseas parcels for $100 at no extra cost. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Black with yellow specks. Or Yellow with white specks. If you put red into a green notch it would be xmas year round Unless you want that. _________________

I think I remember going on Google and searching for Red/Whit coco mats and finding nothing. Every company (and there are quite a few of them) seems to provide every color combo EXCEPT the Red/White. I am glad I jumped on mine when I did... _________________ Jim in Sacto -
