I am currently trying to restore my 1977 transpoter. I was wondering if it is a good idea to remove the front doors when painting. I've heard it can be a pain in the butt to get them back on. |

It's easier to paint a car when it's in pieces, rather than whole. The whole job will come out more even and look better. I hate it when guys spend a fortune painting a ride, but won't even replace the rotted seals.
There are a lot of skilled people on this board. They can help you through the pains. In the end, it's all worth it. _________________ West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette, 319 U.S. 624 (1943) |

it depends on what kind of resto you're talking about. full on, show, driver, weekend warrior, all season driver?? interior & exterior?
are the windows out or masked? bumpers & trim, lights & mirrors in or out?
like icy said, taking the doors off will make it easier to spray the body and the doors and you'll get a better result. ditto with the decklid & side door. and all glass & bumpers.
good luck. |

I have started taking the car apart and was planning on removing everthing except the doors. I have heard that doors will almost never gone back on corectly thats why I asked. The only thing I am not sure If I'm removing is the dash. But maybe I'll just say what the hell. |
