Looks great! Did you do the modification to the front bow to compensate for the narrowing of the roof?

I'll put it up in a bus tomorrow and see what it needs.

So what does a decent OG Westy poptop rack (65-67) go for these days? I haven't seen any come up to gauge what they are selling for. I know people always say 'there worth what somebody will pay' but I'm looking for a ballpark price to start with.

Thanks.

As far as I know, only the silver.

This rack came on my bus when I bought it last year. Now before I sell it, I'm hoping that somebody recognizes it. I know nothing about it but looks like a hack job.

Is there another sticker that shows the part #? Looks like a (poorly) widened type 3 rack to me.

looks like a baywindow roofrack with grated on legs to make it fit a split. Does it still have the "ZVW" part number on it?

I'll take a look for other stickers/part numbers. Somebody else had mentioned before that it looked like a hacked up Type 3 rack.

I'll add my concurring opinion on this as well. The width of the cross bars is way too short for a bus rack--bay window or split. The extension of the legs rather than the cross members is the giveaway, IMO, that this is a rack made for a roof narrower that a bus.

If one were to measure the span and length of the main "basket" portion- I could compare it to either of my two Type 3 racks to match up. Measure the width of the bottom cross tubes and the distance from leg "A" to leg "C" on center- measured again along the bottom of the main basket floor.

Edit: I just visited my barn's rack department. My bigger one that looks just like yours is 43" wide and 60" span between the 3 posts.

There has been a handful posted like mine, in different lengths, and still no definitive answer as to what they are. The closest so far was the story about the guy who bought it with his bus from the dealer in '66, but it doesn't look like the VWoA racks in the first post. Hard to tell in the pic cause of the angle, but there's about 2.5 inches between the bottom of the rack and the roof.

I'll give it a measure if I get a chance but I got a dude that's willing to give me $200 for it so I'm gonna unload it ASAP. To me it's ugly as sin, and he wants it for a Bay. More power to him.

Bay and split racks use the same "spread". A bay roof is flatter, but the racks are generally interchangeable.

It's the same construction as my OG VW rack:

Yeah, but still curious as to the maker of these. Awesome bus by the way!
