|
|
Hello,
and greetings from "snowy" Finland!
I'm quite happy guy - I happened to find -66 1600 TL / Fastback with original teak interior, Pearl White.
I wonder how rare this car really is?
In Finland we don't have any teak-coloured - and only one or two "Pigalles".
Does anybody know anything about volumes manufactured during september-december 1965?
Any car in daily use?
Something, anything ... no - tell me everything!
Thanks
Juha - Finland

Thanks for information!
It would be very nice to hear any other comments about "Teak cars"!
It's very hard to find any pictures about "teak cars". Maybe I should post some pictures...
In Volks World -magazines (feb/2002) was mentioned, that Pigalle Fastbacks were manufactured less than 1000. And teak Fastbacks even less. So this -66 Fastback I own is very very rare?

Volks World:
Estimate of Pearl White Typ3 with Pigalle interior:
"Less than 1000", Paul Medhurst of Type 3 Detectives / England
"Apparently there were also a small number of cars sent out wiht brown and even blue vinyl das tops, but hese are now so rare they have alomost become VW folklore"
These are the only estimates I know...
Where to I can send couple of photos? What is suitable resolution / jpeg compression / image size?

Less than 1000 made or less than 1000 left?

Less than 1000 made (Pigalle) during those 4-5 months late 1965.
And brown (teak) cars even less!
How many is left? Nobody knows...
In Finland maybe only one pigalle (Black fb) and one teak (Pearl White fb)
I will send couple of pictures very soon.

Yes, I have, but unfortunately they are technically very poor ones. I'll try to make them better with Photoshop.
I will take lot of pictures as soon as I get my Lady White Pearl home to Finland later on march...
I'm still searching all kind of information concidering teak t3's. Pictures found so far only couple (thanks notchboy)...
In Sweden there seems to be several teak Squarebacks (variant). In England propably none? |

I have seen a type 3 blue dash with my own eyes outside of a car last year. It was in the garage of a pretty well known parts dealer here in the Bay Area. He also had a RHD Pigalle and a Teak dash.
I had no clue a blue dash existed to that point. Are there no pictures of a blue dash around? _________________ '54 Kombi | '57 356 Coupe | '57 Samba | '62 Notchback | '63 Beetle (36k Original Miles) | '66 Pigalle Sunroof Squareback | '70 Westy |

Wow .. its nice to see another RHD Pigalle ... I was begining to think mine was the only one!
Where is this car from? ... I presume it is not in England as it is far too sunny in the photos .. Australia perhaps? |
