Several of the tools I have loaded in my Gallery have no reference for their purpose in the Samba archives. If anyone can shed some light, please do!

Got few pictures but I have several "tools" that I purchased/fabricated. I end up doing about 99% of the work by myself. So during the two-year resto-mod of my 69 'vert I came up with some ingenious tools.

One was the "body puller." I looped chains around two of the ceiling joists in my garage and hung come-a-longs from them. Then using nylon lifting straps around the bumper struts lifted the body off the pan. Rolled the pan out and built this dolly underneath the body.....

By the time I reinstalled the body the chains and come-a-longs were replaced by electric hoists. I also made a flat dolly for the pan. And to get underneath the pan, I lifted it up on one edge using the hoists.

My engine removal dolly. Bought a mover's dolly from Harbor Freight. I cut one of the wooden sides off, and attached 2X6's to the top of the carpeted sides. I can roll this under the car, slide the jack in the middle and lower the engine onto the dolly. The heater boxes sit perfectly on the 2X6's.

After building my engine, I needed to run it out of the car and get it tuned. I built this....

It has oil pressure and alternator (generator) lights, a cutout switch, and an extra voltmeter. I wire this in and use a remote starter switch alsong with a spare transmission that I have.

I've been sorting and IDing tools in preparation for Eureka Springs and am perplexed at these two. I've been going through the Samba archives as best I can in hopes of spotting a drawing or sample that matches. Can anyone assist?

I found that hammer in the middle of a 4 lane intersection, walking to work at 4 a.m. back in 1980, Boulder Co., fits great in the tool box & the handle fits over most socket wrenches for a good extention.

I found what I think are some Bosch distributor tools. If you can verify or know a maker or value... I'd appreciate it.

Had to deal with a leaky flange on an RGB'd transaxle. Found the main issue with it was the flange bolt holes were "dished in", preventing the whole flange to seal properly around itself. Not wanting to drop the motor/transaxle and tear it apart, I designed a special tool to "fix" it in place. Cool

While not a "home made" tool, used what I had for this:

From the "I'm getting too old for this sh!t" department...

Though the rear bumper on the Dormy is an after market much lighter piece, it is grafted into the hitch so it is a bit heavier than an old school original one. As often as I have to drop the motor for so many reasons, I can handle it better than removing the damn bumper/hitch combo! Eh?

So this past weekend I figured "there has to be a better way!" Rolling Eyes

Got this receiver from VW Howard a while back for just $5 so decided to use it as an "aid" to help install/remove the bumper without breaking my back or busting a toe. Cool

Nice work on the axle tube flanges pyrOman Smile

I've shown this before when people say they have a Bug or Ghia front end to R&I.
Basically it's a poor man's copy of a factory fixture, even drum to drum makes it a safe and easy one man operation...

Easy to fab from 3/4" pipe and fittings, then add two large J hooks to each leg to support the beam.

Nice! Need to make myself something similar for the bus beam, they are a royal PITA to remove/install. Mad
