Has anybody ever done any door hinge pin removal and installation. I don't really want to buy new hinges. I know GM makes a tool but I don't know if vw makes one.

Thanks for all the info. Gonna try the bfh with days of penetrating oil first and if that doesn't work I'll buy the removal tool. I appreciate the quick responses.

A hammer rarely works, you'll just end up bending stuff and getting mad. Buy or rent the tool. I have the Eastwood one and it works perfectly.

I had such rusted hinge pins on my '70 that I had to resort to the torch. And yes, it wrecked the paint in that area, but those devilish pins finally came out. I had the doors with hinges off the car at that time, so paint damage was minimized somewhat - and the car needed to be painted anyway. This is the procedure of last resort though.
