Wondering if most people prefer to paint the fender beading along with the body, or install it afterwards?

alot end up painting over it but you should really remove it so you can get paint between the fender and the body.

Thanks! You all have the same feeling about it that I have. Seems like any Bug I've gotten to see restored always had the beading painted.

If the fender beading is painted, it'll eventually crack & peel away leaving the car with an unfinished look. Remove it prior to painting unless you like that color matched look

My Dad advised me to put rubber pluming washers on the bolts of the fender between the fender and the car to create a gap. then after paint just loosen bolts cut the washers off and slide in the beading and re tighten. Very Happy
