here is a dumb newbie question. the bolts on my shocks have probably not been removed for 20+ years and are frozen. i am not too sure about heating with a torch do to the rubber on the shocks. i have soaked with wd for about 3 days and no luck. what will happen if the bolt snaps? thanks-scott Confused

What does it matter if the torch melts the rubber on the shocks? You're trying to remove the shocks to replace them anyway, right? If the bolt breaks off, you'll need to drill out the shank of the bolt & use a tap to chase the threads to clean things up.

get some penetrate oil.
spray it into the tower, all over.
now get a BIG hammer! and wack the head of that bolt.
hit it square on the head.
more oil, now tap the head with the hammer, tap, tap, tap, oil ,tap tap ect.
as you tap the oil gets worked into the threads .
do this for 10 min.
works everytime!

vw did not make each and every part, they out sourced alot of parts for thier VW's

they still made the bug in mexico up untill a couple years ago.
mexican parts are better then any parts from taiwan , brazil, japan, ect.

except germany of course !!! or the good old USA !

i think what is bothersome is that when i purchased the boge shoks i was expecting them to be german made. still wonder why a pair dated 4/71 would be marked made in west germany Question
