I started to clean the bottom of my engine and tins with Simple Green. With the tins I noticed that it was taking off the paint in spots and it also seems to be taking of a coating/sealant on the engine metal. Has anyone had this happen to them and should I be concerned?

Thanks Much!

The engine didn't come with any coating on it so whatever's coming off isn't any loss. If simple green is taking the paint off the tin it isn't stuck well at all and could need redoing. If you're not ready to strip all the tin off and paint it properly a touchup with Tremclad/Rustoleum will be fine for now, just cover the bare steel so is doesn't rust.
