I have a truck that has a clearcoat and the previous owner waxed just the hood. Now it looks like it's never clean. I thought clearcoat never needed waxing or am I wrong? Is there a way to remove the wax without hurting the clearcoat? The rest of the truck looks great which is why I don't like the waxed area.

Wash it with dishwashing soap, it may take the wax off. You may need to use some clear coat rubbing compound to get it off. Wax it with Mcguires NXT tech wax, the stuff is awesome. _________________ If your not workin or cleanin your not looking hard enough. |

Paint stores have a cleaner especially made for removing wax. A clay bar might be worth investing in as well. Does the hood feel dirty even when its clean? A cleaner wax might do the trick depending on how bad it is. But once its clean of all other containiments you need to keep a good wax system on it. I like the Mothers brand products as far as wax goes. Could you maybe post some pic's of it so we can see just what your dealing with? |
