|
|
Hey, Dumb question!
Does anybody produce a 16" replacement wheel?
I have seen all the 16's posted in the classifieds and i do not need them to be original wheels
Any Ideas?
Thanks K.L. _________________ 67 Type I in Harley turquoise(1914CC)

i'm not sure if 16" are reproduced, but i do know that you can send a set of 15" stock wheels off and just about any wheel place will make them into 16". they take the 15" canters and put them in a 16" hoop. i know for sure that Stockton Wheel will do this. |

WHY would anyone do that? You can get 16" rims for 100.00 ea. if you keep an eye out. I just sold 18 of them in the last few months. _________________ 59 bug slammed with cosmics |

If they don't need to be original, why not just use 15" wheels? _________________ (O\U|U/O) Top Vw (o\UU/o) |

you can also take your 16's and have them widened _________________ I own a copy of "The Car of the Century" by Garwood. This means I am authorized to act like a twat in thesamba forums. |

I would like to mount military type tires on VW wheels.
I am assuming that Kubel's used 16's, I have not looked at one but will be soon
thanks,
K.L.

If any wheelsplace acctually would manage to find a suitable 16 inch wheel arch for the 15 inch center it would look just wrong... The centers on 16 inch originals are also wider than the centers of the 15 inch wheel.

I did it for my Hebster. (or I acctually changed the arch from the 3 inches to a 6,5 inches...) _________________ ~Kris~

found this old topic...just wondering why there is still no reproduction 16" wheel on the market, or is there? the replica 16" Porsche wheels in the classifieds looks great but is not the right style for a split bug. Any thoughts? |

I spoke to Ken King at Concept1 who makes the Porsche 16" wheels. He said that he can provide a solid center for split beetles, but the hoop will have to be 3.25" wide, because the cost/demand for 3"wide split beetle hoops just isn't there. _________________ New Vintage Specialist.

I also am looking for 5 16inch wheels for my reproduction kubelwagen. Seems the ones that pop for sale here are always priced higher than my budget will allow. Seems like someone would fill this void in the market by now.....

I collected 10 or so wheels over the years, they didn't cost a fortune, but they all have more or less rust and other issues and to renew them....thats costy. I woudn't mind to pay 250$ for a new one, still saving money compare to what an overhaul will cost.

I have some used 16" tires that are decent. They are 50 years old and have some age cracks. If you bought new inter tubes you could use them but not recommended to go flying down the street. I think I have 4 continentals, and maybe 2 Avons, and maybe a set of Dulops?? Tim |

By the time you buy the center & hoop, then have them welded together & trued, I'm right back where I started.....too much money per wheel.
I wonder why they don't offer a completed wheel?
