Just picked up a one piece front for the baja. I got a good deal from axishp. Thanks again. I ditched the red fenders and blue cover to put the front fenders from a bug eye kit on the back. It leaves you scratching your head. Either you like it or hate it. I like it. Hopefully I can get over to rterferts and get some lessons in fiberglass repair. rterfert i can't thank you enough for all your help. I hope to get some more pics up soon. axishp, can we get a couple of shots of your buildup posted? I need a pic of that cut for the hood you made. Thanks.

I cut the front end and put the one piece front end in place to see how it fit. Took some photos but I am still trying to figure out how to post those. rterfert, I did something! I also cut a wee hole in the drivers side. Gonna have to borrow the welder to fix that...... Rolling Eyes [/img]

here it is after removing the bug eye kit and getting ready to cut it up. Having never done this I took it slow and had only one, Oh $&*%! Odds wise I thoughtthat was pretty good.

hopefully after some welding and paint I can fill it in. Really I don't know what was harder, cutting it or posting the frigging pictures. After reading and looking at some of the other build ups' I feel kinda humble. With work and family it's kinda hard to get busy on this thing but hopefully......, Hey rterfert, those floor pans are screaming to be replaced....and the wiring.

here is after I placed the one piece on for a trial fit.

pre surgery wasn't to bad but I think the one piece hood is the start of some good things. Also got seat belts in it.

Thanks, I rent my children for $50.00 an hour, they mow lawns too. Seriously , that was a joke. I plan to take that dash out and try it again with some better cutting tools and maybe some different gauges. rterfert is my go to guy for repairs and upgrades. I try things on my own but usually end up with a mess. If you could see the gauge hole I cut its .... jagged.

David was looking to freshen up an 1835cc for his Baja and if the bottom end of the motor checks out WE might just go 1915cc.

OK another Saturday done with.
Cut and turned the replacement front end today
started with removing everything but the leafs and scribed my lines using a hose clamp to get them straight
(becuase I couldn't find the big pipe cutter) and thought I would just do it old school Smile

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

I also did the math and a 1/4" turn at the beam is equal to 1" at the arm
(I did a search for that info and came up empty) Hard to tell in the picture but I turned them 1/4"

Welded it up

Looking good.........Got any tips on cleaning 25 years of road grim offa 091,,,,,I am using WD-40, a plastic scraper and a wire tooth brush to start. Once I get the big stuff off I am using the dremal to get the small divits then turning the die grinder with a fine wire brush to buff it out. got one half today, will finish and give you a pic tomorrow.

Easy-off oven cleaner or equivalent from the local .99 cent store
After the really caked on stuff is off.
Take it to the local car wash...Spray your parts with the cleaner....Wash your car
(5 minutes elapsed time) Spray the parts off with water and head home...
What dosen't come off you still have to address the old school way.
