Good Lord! Where are you from? You pressed that yourself? You have some great metalwork skills/ equipment.
Would you be willing to make those for others of us in need? _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

I am out of Central California. I am new to the air-cooled vehicle, but I have tossed about the idea of producing these since there are no manufacturers at this time. |

stop tossing and get on with it - that looks great! there are a ton of Type 3's that only need pan replacement to be back on the road... not only would you make a truckload of money, it would definitely be a shot in the arm for the Type 3 enthusiasts...
maybe then we could finally put the 'fiberglass pans?' issue to rest and never have to answer that question again... _________________ póg mo thóin

I see you did the floor for the rear seat, but did you also do the battery tray too? If so, then I'd start making them available for sale, as customers will line up to get them. I know I could use about 3 sets. This would fill a nice nitch. Nobody has been able to fill it with new parts, except fiberglass, which ISN'T an option for some of us. Currently the only practical option is good used, and those are drying up as we speak. There are ghia pans available, but they require a lot of work just to use, and the metal is a little thinner than stock type3 pans. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Well it seems as though the forum has spoken! As you know there is no replacements out there. Almost everyone will need one at one time. Please consider producing these on a larger scale. If you want more customers go here. vwtype3.org and subscribe to the list. _________________

Ok I give in, I will produce a pan for fellow enthusiasts. I figure it will be early summer before I can get them out. I don't want to put out a pan until I know that they will be consistent from pan to pan. I also want to have a set of instructions that will be good enough to walk the average Joe through the process. I will place an ad in the Samba when they are available. The Samba members have spoken!! I will press. |

Ditto to every one else's input. Beyond a doubt, there is a market for this out there. Make sure you let us know when they are available. _________________ One man's "patina" is another man's cancer...

Hoss, really can't estimate a cost. I would say it would be comparable to the other pans out there, however I want to make them affordable without compromising on the quality. Kind of vague but I hope it answers your question. |
