Ok, so I have an '83 vanagon with the huge sunroof that freaking rocks, only on problem: the previous owner screwed something up with the sunroof crank and the gears or something, so now the sunroof doesn't close all the way. It just stays cracked and the back won't go up so it freaking leaks whenever it rains, or snow melts on it. Anyways, I was thinking about coverting it into a westy since nobody here is willing to part with an older early '70's westy for under $3k. So, has anybody here put on a westy camper top on a normal vanagon? Or does anybody know how to fix or where I can get it fixed, the stupid sunroof that rocks? Thanks for all your help.

Dude,

I had my '84 sunroof (which fookin' rocks by the way) fixed at a local window tint/sunroof repair and install place for about $ 300 a few years ago. If you go anywhere near a VW only type shop the price will double. Keep the sunroof man. It is too sweet and too rare to part with.

Dude,

Thanks dude. I wasn't sure if places like that would do that, but I'll call around town and see if they will. I don't see why not, unless freakin vw's are too confusing. ha. anyways, i sorta knew that the sunroofness was rare, so I'll just stick with it and hopefully get it fixed before rainy season here.
sweet. thanks again.

Yeah, it rocks, when it's not raining. I called the only sunroof place in town, they said they could look at it, and then give me a quote. So ill go with that, but I'm going to call around denver cause they have some really good vw places there that are way cheap I guess. Provo utah, huh? YOu ever see the movie cannible the musical? It's the first film by the creators of south park. it's funny. Anyways, thanks again.
