I checked his feedback before ordering some parts, and I have to second all the good feedback. Everything was exactly as described, well packed, and delivered promptly. _________________ Central Jersey VW Society

Anyone have any current information on Gary's status? I have called and emailed him many times, but I.I.R..C. it was February when I last heard him and he asked for my address. I got parts from him, but made a mistake and sent them back to exchange for something else, which he was kind enough to offer. I am concerned as this was the pattern before Russ Wolfe died. Is he married or have friends near by? Sure hope so, as hate for him to be dead and no one knows it. _________________ 1971 Sunroof Squareback with Fuel Injection

I ordered some cables from Gary the end of last week and received them today so I think he's alive and well. I definitely recommend him! _________________ Brad

Glad to hear he is alright. I notice he has been on here.
Then why has he not gotten back to me? Been over a week and tried several times now to get in contact.
It is a lot of money so hate to write it off. _________________ 1971 Sunroof Squareback with Fuel Injection

Thank you for letting me know. I had a feeling that I should wait. Though the email was sent before this date.
Did have the idea of making a claim using Paypal, but not sure if I really should, since I did not like it, and it really does no good. What do think? _________________ 1971 Sunroof Squareback with Fuel Injection

I have a bit of trouble with social skills, so wondering what you all would do in this situation. I was recommended Mr. Ploof for a piston and cylinder set by Russ Wolfe, and the transaction went very well and I am happy with what he sent. I did the same for several other parts, and all went well. Over a year ago I was trying to upgrade my brakes and ordered these:

As you see, he has dropped the price by $10.
These did not work in my application, and I sent them back.

Gary:
Went to install them today, and Jack Fisher said the bleeder should be above the hard line, and showed me a handful of examples. What is the reason for the difference? Even more of a concern is they are 4mm too short: the shoes do not fully seat in the groove, therefor they are not usable. We compared it to another, and these do not appear to be type 3 25.4. :/ What do want to do? B.T.W., no packaging (the advert shows cardboard boxes) or part numbers, so not sure if this is even what I ordered.
Thank you and take care,
Adriel

| Quote: | | I just looked a some I have here.. they do have the bleeder in the above postion. I compared it to a later type 3 rear which has the bleeder below. I maty have sent you the later ones.. anyway I'll be sure when i get those back and will send the correct ones. thanks again, Gary |

Gary:
Not sure how to say this, but figure give more information than possibly
needed, and then you can decide what is needed.
The purpose of the larger wheel cylinders was for upgrading the calipers on
the type 3, but talking to ISP West and several others, I should not go
forward (too much braking). Reason I am even messing with the brakes is the
rears need replacing and the front calipers are too small (type 1 calipers);
also hard braking I go to the right. I am not going to muddy up the water,
so I am going forward with getting the correct 25.4mm wheel cylinders.
However, now that I am not going to use B.M.W. calipers, looking for a set
of calipers that work, and came across the set you are selling. I know not
what emotion to have, especially considering what this is causing on your
side. With that said, what is the mounting spacing and the distance between
the pads? I have an offer of $150 for a rebuilt set of late type 3 without
pads or any hardware, but if these will mount, then rather go with them. ;-|
Thank you and take care,
Adriel
P.S. Wheel cylinders are on the way, shipped Priority. |
I did not have to ship them Priority, but wanted to be sure he got them A.S.A.P..
I have not received a refund of any kind, and as a Student, it is not like I have money to throw away. I needed a set of '73 type 3 calipers and he was willing to do an exchange as stated above. For some reason, I cannot find the letter he sent late last year asking for my address to send the calipers. I sent him the address, and said if there was money due, please let me know. That is the last I heard or seen, and have called numerous times long distance. I think I found a home telephone number, but not sure it be right to call it. Amazing how esy it is to find information on people, but whether we have a right to use it is questionable in my mind.
Thank you for any help you all can provide. _________________ 1971 Sunroof Squareback with Fuel Injection

I`ve bought a few great items from Gary and although he is extremely busy with his "other" job, he got back to me and took the time out of his busy day to answer all the questions a newbie VW`er could throw at him.
Now that I have figured out how to post comments on this site, this is one of the best vendors for parts I`ve dealt with so far. Thanks heaps Gary for offering all the kool parts! Cheers, Art ind640 |

Gary was TERRIFIC!! I live locally and he made the time to meet me half way. The ignition switch was exactly what I needed. The item was just as described. I'll certainly contact him in the future for parts. Thanks Gary!
