I need to replace the front clip on my 70 square and was wondering how hard it is to cut it and weld it back on... my shop teacher at school is going to let me use the mig. Any suggestions or tips?

Measure 3 times, cut once.
Make a template of the windsield opening before you cut it. Same with the door openings.
Have someone help you that has done it before. Even if it is a different make of car.
It is not an easy job.
I am replacing the front clip on my T34, but I have an experienced body man holding my hand.

Are you going to clip it that far back (to or thru the windshield) or just half way thru the fuel tank? The 2 that I've done, were that way (thru the middle of the fuel tank), and it's a fairly easy job. Like mentioned above, measure 3 times and cut once. Very Happy After getting it like you want, measure some more, and even test fit some of the parts, checking the gaps. I know when I did my Roadster 2 that I did some extra trimming just to get the pieces to fit right. I also test fitted the parts just to make sure I was happy with it, before I welded everything in place.
If you're going to replace it further back, use the bolts in the pan and front beam to help align it, and even re-install the doors to check the fit of everything. The hardest part will be getting the heater channels welded back up, as they're inside the rockers / sills. Shocked Just some food for thought.
