Hello. I have stripped all the paint and bondo off my Ghia. Will probably have it Soda and Sandblast next week. Only sand blasting in certain areas that are pretty badly rusted though and soda blasted in the rest. Soon as it's finished it should be down to bare metal completely. I have a painter who will prep, then use the self-etching primer to put a layer on the whole car. Would any of you do anthing differently? Is this the proper way to go about this? I just want to make sure I'm doing the right thing on this. I believe I'm right but would gladly take advice on this matter. The body-work includes replacing certain metal areas with new or used pieces of metal, which will take some time.
After it is self-etched, the car will be brought back to the house and put in the garage til' I can get it to a friend's place for all the body work, etc.

metal etch is a fine idea, but epoxy may be a better idea for starters. If you're blasting the car to very clean rust-free metal, epoxy will provide the utmost in adhesion. Epoxy is better if you're planning on hanging out in a garage for a month or two as well. Just my two cents. It also lays out a little more build as a surfacer and will give a little more depth to your surface before work begins.

i was always taught that bare metal can only be bare for up to 24 hours. after that tiny rust can form and lay under your paint job eventually showing its ugly self down the road. try to get that primer/sealer on asap!
