What's the diff? Would this work on a Type 3? Ad says it's for a Thing? Why wouldn't it use the same as a Type 1?

That's a Type 3 header. Things use the same exhaust setup as the beetle/ghia/bus.

Hmmm. That's what I was thinking.

Weird flange. Looks huge! Any ideas on make? Old school S&S?

That's what I was thinking when I first saw the pic. I was going to guess maybe an old Thunderbird header (like I have on my Roadster 2), as they used the large flange outlet. Cool
