Opinions are like a$$holes.
Everyone has one.

And they stink...

I thought it was a clever twist.

Vlad- the modern wheels compliment the modern management that I'm running Wink look at pics of all the VW's at the classic, half of them are fuch's. being different is the theme of my notch build.

I've always thought that of any type 3, since we're the "red headed step child" of the VW community. Wink

Yes. the front rotors are for the bug and type 3 are the same so they will fit your car.
The dics conversion for the rear of your car CB makes 4 bug kits, early bug shot axle one with a splined rotor, the other is shot axle with a hub and 914 rotor. They also make 2 long axle kit basically the same as the shot axle kit but it has a 16mm spacer for the long axle. You want the bug 67-68 long axle bug kit for your type 3.

The only issue you will have is making a bracket for the stock E-brake
cable retainer, easily made from a couple pieces of angle.

Check with Mario at T3HQ. He is now having 5 x130 rear hubs made in Germany. Check his classifieds ads.

PostPosted: Fri Jan 23, 2015 6:45 pm    Post subject: Wheel bolt size? Reply with quote

I have an original set of 2 Litre Porsche alloys to run on my square.

What wheel bolts can I use? original Porsche 914 ones? Pitch/Size/Length?

Anyone have the spec required to run them safely?

thanks

I ran my set of Mahle 914 rims on my Square before I went 5-lug. They fit perfect and fit exactly as the 2.0L Fuchs. Just use the longer wheel bolts made for the Fuchs and you'll be fine. If you run standard VW lug bolts you will only have about 3 threads holding everything in place. Shocked

I found the right set on eBay. Personally, I would highly recommend switching to studs and using lug nuts. Way easier to get a wheel on/off with studs and studs are much safer. The size is M14X1.5X45mm. Here's the studs I am using: p/n: 904 341 671 00. Hope this helps!!

I ordered these longer Mercedes style lug bolts from ezaccessory for my OG 2.0 liter wheels. I have to run EMPI spacers on the rear to get the dust caps to fit on all the way. A bonus is that the spacers set my 205X70 tires just right from the rear fenders! http://www.ezaccessory.com/Lug_Wheel_Bolts_s/20.htm

The 4 lug Mahle wheels fit nicely, but if you 205s under the rear, use spacers or you will rub on the spring plate of a swingaxle car.
I wish I still had mine. Doh!

Aftermarket bolts arrived but are crap and too short.

So on the lookout for the genuine Porsche 914 bolts if anyone has some they can help out with.

See What you mean about the rear center caps not fitting all the way Mike.

I think spacers will put my tyre against the fender arch lip. What other options are there? Other than not running the cap.

Anyone making slightly bigger caps to take the castle nut?

On a 71 IRS squareback

thanks

I told you mine fit with spacers & you then decide they won't fit without even trying! I used the 39 or 45mm lug bolts.

Mike my wheels fit and I only have a finger gap between the tyre wall and the fender arch. What size spacer have you used? my car is a 71 IRS model.

185/65R15 tyre on the 5 1/2 J 914 Alloy wheel.

I am down 1 outer on rear and 2 outer on front.

What size spacer?
