pan swap seal recommendations

I've noticed that when removing pan bolts a sticky substance other then the rubber seal. One guy said it might be an factory original wax seal used in conjunction with rubber seal. Anyways would like suggestions or reccomendations on specific brand name or type of silicone sealant (if any at all) to apply when setting body back down onto pan/rubber seal. Thank You.

Well, when I removed the body off my '69, I too, noticed something of a waxy substance with the gasket. Anyway, when I replaced my pan gasket I used plain ol' silicone. Just priot to putting the body on the pan is when I put down some silicone. Bolting th ebody together made the silicone squeeze out and make a good seal. Just wipe off the excess and let dry. Thats what I did. Dave. :2gunfire:
