This was my first car ever, Got it maybe in 1999
picked it apart till I finally got it painted in the end of last October(2004).
I waited over 2 months on the tranny so I decided to do the pan too.
I'm getting my dropped spindles in the next couple days.
Have a 2inch narrowed and airshocks ready to install...

Let me know what you think!

I need to figure out what tires for the front. Maybe 145s? I think 135's are too small.

The muffler is from EMPI, It was only like 60 bucks, I think that
was just as cheap as a stock muffler so I got it. The Motor is a 1500 I think, It didn't run when I got it, But I got the car for free anyway.
Cleaned it all up, new gaskets and stuff everywhere and rebuilt the carb(twice). It runs good now.

It's got a long axle pro-street tranny with stock gearing right now.
Just planning ahead for when I get a big engine later on.

Picked up a new steering box, tie rod ends, steering dampner, and other
stuff just a couple hours ago. So maybe I can put a front end back in this weekend.

It should ride smooth like a caddy they say...All it has is Airbags and oil shocks in the rear, So I hold the switch for a second or two and it raises up to a good level. Just add pressure to raise, deflate to lower.
Still a bit lower than stock when raised I think. But I'm pretty sure I can cruise at whatever level I want. I guess I'm getting my dropped spindles on monday now so we will see sometime next week.

Today I will be fishing airlines up through the center tunnel, and then I might put my beam and trailing arms on with the new steering box.

Also, The front will sit all the way on the ground in the front when it's done.

Thanks for looking! On Saturday I installed my air compressor on the side of the pan head, and began taking my old beam apart. I have a new steering box, tierod ends, dampener to install. I need to take the pitman arm, steerbox clamp, grease zerks, trailing arms and anything else you can think of off the old beam. I will get Pics soon.

Unless you have a hookup for some of the parts you need and know what to do, you'll end up spending 1500 to $1800 I think. I'm spending more because I needed to get dropped spindles (highly reccomended) and an narrowed beam (good too). I got all the stuff from airkewld and It's all high quality stuff and worth the money I think. especially with all the tech support I have gotten from them.

It wouldn't be too hard to construct your own stuff if you know what you're doing. I like the kit though, it's easier to just get it from the same place.
Since this kit uses airshocks up front, the shock towers are needed. So I think my 2" narrowed was all I could do.
If you want it to go up and down all fast like some guys are into, you could just get the front and rear kits (around $1100 total) and build your own custom air management system with solenoids and big air lines and stuff, Or even Nitro tanks.

Of course I am just estimating all of this but yah somewhere around 1500 without the spindles or beams and stuff. Or around 1000 if you have access to all the air stuff and can make your own mounts. But then you have to peice it all together and could be frustrating.

If someone reads this feel free to correct me or add your own input thanks. I don't claim to know everything about anything. Smile

Thanks for all the comments! The color is Subaru WR Rally Blue Pearl.
I looked at different cars for a couple weeks before I picked it. It's pretty close to the color of my jetski.

I Think I finally decided to do my car when an accident caused my Super Jet to fall out of my truck. I was so pissed I didn't do any
more races last year and I might skip this season too with all the money going towards my car. I'll build a new ski in the winter if I race again.

The lowest part in the Rear is about 1 inch I think, I Don't know if it would go any lower without either raising the tranny an inch or two, Or putting wear and tear where the axles meet the tranny. But this way, I wont have to worry about destroying any exhaust system I put on it. It might go lower but in the pics I still have a jack under the front (which is about 2.5 inches).

The Front WILL "lay pan". If it doesn't...I will do what I need to to get it to. I have shock tower extenders on my beam and I should get my dropped spindles today (i hope). Last night I took apart my old beam. I sandblasted my trailing arms and steering pitman arm getting them ready to paint and reassemble. I'm going to need smaller tires..I think. 145 or 135? I would rather get 145 if they will fit with it dropped.

I would have lowered the car anyway even if I didn't get the air kit, But this way I knock out a couple birds with the first shot. I always knew my tranny was junk, and I wanted everything to be clean everywhere I looked in the car. So I said, It's now or never! Before I knew it my body was off and I was flipping my pan back and forth in my garage. (And I was sending away all my money ha ha)

If Anybody is interested, I got my spindles thursday (may 19) and
put them in that night. So today I can put most of it together and
roll it around tonight.
I will move the top of the shock up to the extended part once I get everything else hooked up and hopefully driving.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

As a side note, I did have to surface the trailing arms
a little where the washers go, to get them flat. Also the left
airshock was rubbing the upper arm arm a little but not really
binding. So I surfaced the arm there a little too. When I mount the
shock in the upper extended position It brings the shock alot further away
from the arms with no clearance issues. And it goes up and
down ALOT further.
