BE CAREFUL! When that bad boy hits bottom, it won't destroy the exhaust...It'll beat up the rear apron first! Otherwise, for a first timer...you are doing an exceptional job! Awesome Car!

This is my first car, so it goes a little slow, I have to ask questions about every single thing ! I have been reading all the VW mags since I was 16, So I know what my bug should "look like". Now I've had to learn how to make it look like that.

I think even with it low, the muffler tips are under the apron, so I think they would go first. But I don't have to worry about any of that, I just hold the switch for 2 seconds and it goes up to stock height! it's awesome.

I got the front finished last night, but I need smaller tires bad. The pan is still 2 inches off the ground cause the front fenders sit on the 165 tires. Since I'm desparate to be low I'm going straight to the 135 everyone has. Smaller tires would get me lower from the fender and also from the ground with the low profile.

I still need to hook up the steering wheel, pedals, shifter, gas tank, and put my white Procar seats in. I will get pics this week.

Took it outside for the first time in 3 months. (One month was just
waiting for a tranny, and a couple weeks waiting for some Spindles).
Let me tell you it's a little scary driving while sitting on a cinder block.
Seats will be installed as soon as possible. I have some white Scat Procar
seats to go in (mounted a couple inches back from stock pos.)
Since everything was taken apart and replaced, the need for alighnment causes a very scary driving experience.

So now It's just down to all the small details. (trim, handles, tail lights, small tires, etc.)

Laughing The block was originally there so my girl could pump the brakes while i did the brake bleeding. It was either that or a Lawn chair. (now thats big pimpin) Cool I did put a towel on it for padding. I only drove it about 50 yards from my house anyway. It still needs to be aligned before I do anything else.
I will put the seats in this week.

The cinderblock did work better than the bucket I used a couple months ago.
Picture this, Everything seems ok until... Throttle gets stuck on full power, shifter knob comes off in my hand, and my bucket is falling over when I turn!
I thought I was going to die! (despite going maybe 10 mph). That was the test drive of the old tranny before I took the body off and redid the pan. At least the brakes worked. ha ha.

I Hope nobody follows my bad example of safety. Thanks for the tip!

Got the 135's. Should I get 145's for the back? Or stay with the 165's?

We will see. It's still got a while to go before it's "done".

I would definitely not go with the 145s in the back. Leave the 165s on.

Seeing as its bagged, keep the 165's in rear. I would only worry about the 145's if it were just slammed.

Maybe 145's in the rear for "shows" and 165s for driving. I dunno.

For "I need a shoe horn", I think the Airkewld kit is probably on of the best ways to go as for Ease of instalation, and simplicity.
You will probably need the layed back shock tower extensions for a 65. I have regular extensions and they poke into the trunk a little bit. I wouldn't want to cut into a vert body. The back is a little harder since you have to weld in the upper bag mounts.

Thanks for the info im not looking to lay pan just a smooth ride and drop it low when parked. Do you have to use those extensions on the front?

This is the LOWEST the front would go, without the extenders and 165 tires.

You don't want to drive it at the bottom of the travel, so you will basically have to raise it up to stock height just to drive it. And remember I still have dropped spindles on.
I dont think anybody should run the airshocks without the extensions even if it's just for ride quality. Maybe shorter airshocks will become available in the future. Up travel was also limited since the shock is too close to the beam in the stock position. The extensions have multiple maounting positions for fine tuning the low point and give a lot better movement of your trailing arms.

I got the whole car polished this week and put the trim back on.
Also bolted up the Scat procar Elite seats. I welded some 1.5" angle pieces
to mount them to. 4" back compared to stock position for more legroom.
The new hubcaps make it look more finished. Also hooked up the taillights with new lenses.

Still recovering from Friday/Saturday/Sunday night here in Vegas.. ha ha...
I have a boring monday afternoon to waste. Here's the wheels I've been
looking at for some time now. Thinking about a white powdercoat?? Is it possible to powdercoat alloy? Maybe I'll get them sprayed.

Before I get the discs and wheels, I'll need to get a good Alarm and other
Anti-theft devices, Does anybody know what alarms are good for VW's?
I want to get the best one that is compatable.
