Hi, I'm Ryan in Mesa, AZ and this is my daily driver oval project I am just finishing up. 2017cc motor, pro street tranny w/freeway flyer gears, full air ride suspension, etc.... More pics in the gallery.
Had many days (months) of rust repair on this thing (both heater channels rear bumper mounts, front apron..etc....). I actually tried to sell it a year ago before I started fixing it up, and a guy at the local VW shop turned me down when I told him $500 for it. He is kicking himself now I am sure. Here's my 57. I bought it last March. It's had one, sorta poor, repaint the original color. Never been hit hard (it's got a few little dings in the fenders. I did get a W decklid with it but it's a different color so it's stashed away for later. Interior is shot to hell. It has one little rust through under the battery. Running a 36 horse with a later tunnel trans. I split up the daily driver duties between this one and my 83 Westy.
This is the 3rd oval I've owned and the 10th VW. Got my first, a 66 Karmann Ghia, back in 71 so I've been drivin' VWs for 35 years now. I've always thought that the ovals were the best looking of all the bugs (no offense to you split guys out there). _________________ 83 1/2 Westy waterboxer

Nova Scotia is beautiful but a tiny bit remote. I have my eyes on a piece of land in Cape Elizabeth on a cliff overlooking the Bay of Fundy. You will love it there. |
