You better make sure you have plenty of room to move around on all sides. From the pics it looks a little tight. Also make sure you have plenty of ventilation. That tent will fill up with overspray real fast, and could cause problems later. |

looks kewl, but i dont have ant experience with these things. I am planning to do something similar only mine has to be out doors because my garage is so small, as far as ventilation are you using the tshirt over the fan trick???
does that actually work i hear the shirt will catch the spray as the fan pushes the air out of your tent......
good luck i am interested in how this works for you because i will be doing similar work in a few weeks! _________________ rollin in the teeks with a 70 standard/ 69 bay/ and soon a 64 standard! |

I have done the same many times, works fine!
I would "ground" the car to prevent static , helps keep dust off the paint.
I use jumper cables, ground the pan and the body to a water pipe. _________________ cut, hammer, weld, drive.
not necessarily in that order. |

My brother made an inflatable booth for a friend that blows up anywhere. He makes inflatable jumps just like the one in the picture. Basically, he made 4 inflatable columns. one opens up with velcro. The walls are made with vinyl similar to the one he uses for the jumpers. Instead of putting a jumping bed, he just put a tarp under to protect the floor from getting any paint. he also made one of the walls with the ventilation holes for 2 vacuums.
I'll ask my brother to take some pictures so I can post here. but I think it's an awesome idea!
Regards,
Mark |

i think you should put the exhaust fan on an opposite wall of the intake filters...you want to suckout the overspray...with your setup, you might just circulate the overspray a little while the air being sucked in makes a U-turn and goes right back out....also, makes sure you have plenty of lights...i really like the shade canopy on the top...smart thinking... _________________ Wish List:

I'll ask him. We are in So. Cali so I don't think it would be that much for shipping. |

depends on the cost of the booth and shipping _________________ rollin in the teeks with a 70 standard/ 69 bay/ and soon a 64 standard! |

He said he can make you a 13'x23' big enough for a Chevrolet Caprice station wagon, this includes the blower to blow it up and everything you need to operate the unit. The price is $1500.00 with Free shipping to Manteca CA. He will deliver the inflatable booth out to your door.
If you need an air extractor, he can provide it for an additional $300.00 or you can buy one from any paint supply. He will leave the pipe for the extractor.
If you need special dimensions to reduce the cost, please let me know.
One of the many advantages about this booth is portability. You can roll it up and take it anywhere. It will blow up in 2 min and roll it down takes 5 min. |

I think it would be awesome to have a Finding Nemo paint booth . You could open the market up wide with that stuff. |

With my luck there would be a power failure and the whole thing would drop onto my new wet paint job. _________________ 4ghias |

Good Idea with the enclosure within the garage, I’m guessing that your putting the air compressor way out side and as Mark said (lots of light) hang a couple of cheap florescent lights for plenty of light. Looks like your pulling air from the top on one side and pushing it out on the bottom from the other? I think you would need more then one access for the air I would go all along the top on the opposite side of the fan. I would also get that real cheap painters clear drop cloth and line the inside so you can rip it off and toss between paint jobs to keep the main enclosure clean. _________________ 4ghias |

also find a way to tie off the walls so they don't flap into your wet paint
maybe a small hole in the center of each wall with a string tied off to the walls inside.
also if you put in an exhaust fan, duct it (with something) out of the garage or the house will stink of auto paint for weeks
and use a respirator!! _________________ Frank

Well i did it .
I primed the fenders with 3 coats of self etching primer.
I got the runs in some places
but not bad for my first paint job.
I need to prime it with my buildable primer. Should i sand down the runs in the selfetching primer. can you even sand the etching primer???? |

Yes, you need to get the runs out of it. Yes, you can sand it. It will need to be sanded to give the highbuild primer something to stick to. |

3-4 coats of high-build is about maxed out...you will want to sand it down substantially...from everything i've come across, it sounds like you want to try and keep your etch and high build primer's total build as thin as possible... _________________ Wish List:
