paint code, where?

looking for the color code on an 83 vanagon westy, anyone know where they hid it?

Visit your local automotive paint supply house. They have some extensive color catalogs which are easily viewable. Most color charts are indexed according to year & make of vehicle. So in your case, look at the colors which were available in 1983 for VWs.

Look under the dash on the driver side for a white or silver paper sticker , either about 3/4x2 1/2(silver) or 2x4(white) with a L and 3#'s , or L another letter a # and a letter (LY3D-example for a red code) , on some campers they put the sticker on the pedistal under the drivers seat .TROY
