|
|
Does anyone have the PPG paint code for L466 Silver Beige? I have an original paint chip but can't seem to find a PPG code online anywhere. My paint shop looked through their books for about 2 hours with no luck. Any help is appreciated. If you have the code for any other common modern paint brand that might work for a cross refference. _________________ Richard

I checked on the L466, the guy at the paint store only had a listing for L456 Ruby red I think he said 61-69 years. I forgot the paper that I wrote th PPG # on I left it in my box at work. I will have that for you tomarrow. If your sure its L466 tell me the year and type so I can did deeper.

It is L466 Silver Beige. I think what makes finding the code difficult is that it is not an exterior paint color, it is used for the steering wheel, steerinng column, turn signal switch housing, ebrake handle, etc on many years of split window buses. In the end I'll probably just have to have them color match it, although they said that was an extra $25 and they still had to screw with the colors after using their fancy machine to get it close. Thanks for checking it out and let me know if you come up with anything else. _________________ Richard

I worked in the paint industry for the last 16 years and was never able to find that code in PPG ! Glasurit was the only OE supply at that time. Your best be it to find a clean OG item you can color match and take it to your local PPG house ( I just had to do the same thing with Spies Hecker). Otherwise try Rich at Wollfsburg West, they have a similar color in a spray bomb (can).
Good luck! |

I've got an original paint chip that is about 2" by 4" that I figured I would have them color match. The paint shop just didn't seem very confident that they could match it for some reason. I'm sure there is enough variation over the years and between the parts that even a close match would probably be good enough I suppose.
Thanks for checking on it. _________________ Richard

I am hoping to get my own paint mixed up. I'll see if they are willing to let go with the modern mixing code. _________________ Richard

Richard, it would be great if you would post the formula here and forward it to Everett so he can note it in the color charts pages. Save the rest of us from having to pay for a color match.
Thanks. |

Anyone know the best person at WW to contact to try to get the paint code? Think they will provide it since it might cut into their rattle can sales? _________________ Richard

Great site Glenn but I still wasn't able to find it there. This is an elusive one... _________________ Richard

That cool but Silver Beige is an interior color, like the steering column.
I only see exterior colors there |

i just painted the exterior of my car silver beige -- a beautiful shade. the painters had a hard time finding a code and ended up matching the paint to the wolfsburgwest spray-can paint (computer, then visually). matching tot he available WW color was actually sort of nice, because in the even of a nick or scratch, i'll have a handy supply of touchup. |

They may be able to cross reference to a Glasuirt code of AD2224 - I know Sherwin Williams just did this for me. I now have a gallon of Silver Beige - more than I'll ever need!
Thx,

Great, thanks. That is a promissing lead. Otherwise I'll just send my parts your way to get rid of part of that gallon LOL. _________________ Richard
