Break open the piggy bank? Condolences? That is not that expensive or hard to fix. It is fixable for under a few hundred dollars if you do the work yourself. If you don't like to do work on your own car though, you might want to sell it and buy new cars from now on. |

I would seriously think about replacing the whole heater channel. You will probably dig back a bit and keep having to dig back until you are past what the retaining board will replace. The rust has likely started to appear in other places beyond what you can see without taking the body off and the heater channels away, in other words. |

Is it rusted through the front fender well also? If so that channel is shot.

it's starting to bubble through a little in the fron fender wheel, but i cannot see daylight through it. the only area thats really bad is right above the jack point and various others little spots where the running board was mounts were located. |

If its bubbling through the fenderwell then the channel is shot. They rust from the inside out so its only a matter of time before it caves on itself. Save yourself the trouble and change out the channel now. |

Exactly. Like I said, once you start taking stuff apart you will find more rust. It is better to replace it all at once instead of fixing one thing then noticing rust in a different spot and having to take everything apart again. |
