Yeah, but Myrtle Creek is BETWEEN the Costal Range and the Cascades. I grew up just 30 miles north of MC, so I know how warm it can get there. My wife has been there several times too, so she also knows. _________________

type 3 invasion sounds cool , what is the closet airport that I should fly to get to Myrtle Creek, OR? |
Eugene, OR would be the closest airport of any size. Portland would be better. Eugene is about 85 miles north, Portland about 200 miles. |
If you fly into Portland we can hook you up with the DDB Guys and get you to the invasion. Otherwise someone among us could pick you up and drive you down in the type lll instead of using a rental car.

i will say it again... the Invasion isn't just about the cars! It is about the people and friendships developed We have the potential of doubling the size of the little local car show that we will be attending! Plus, the idea of 50+ type 3s cruising up to crater lake is just mindblowing for me! i can't wait to see that!!! _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

Gang, I live in Springfield, literally a half hour from the Eugene airport. I'm perfectly willing to meet folks and help with grub and shuttling, and arranging lodging, etc. I have another Type 3 pal here in the area who I'm sure will be happy to help as well.
It'd be great to get a huge Type 3 caravan going down the hiway to the Invasion. The Portland/ Washington group could hook up with those of us down here in Eugene/ Spring-tucky, since we're right on the way. I'm envisioning a mile or two long line of T3s bombing down I-5....
I'm game. PM me or Email me at [email protected] and let's work on it. Maybe we can have a West Coast Bubblepalooza before the Invasion. I'm less than three minutes from I-5, so I think I'm a good co- ordinate location. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

Hell, we had like 23 type3's at the Cruise For The Cure this year ...not even a type3 specific event...I think (hope) you guys are seriously low-balling the number of attendees for the invasion. Brian's gonna have to use a shoe horn and Parkay to get 'em all in his yard And i predict a minimum 2 mile long caravan on I-5 _________________ DSD

My Invasion To-Do list:
1. Meet up with Russ, caravan out with him (that's the dude you want with you on a road trip, for when you break down!)
2. Stop by Martin's shop to drink Pabst Blue Ribbon and break stuff
3. Head over to Tram's for food & beer, if he'll hang out with a right-wing protestant w/ incorrect bumpers
4. INVASION!
5. Stop by TomChristoe's house on the way home and kick him in the vagina. _________________ OGST

What's the best type 3 event that you got go to? need help planning for next years vacation .
I want the show with that best type 3's and great swap meet. |
The Classic will have the largest # of Type 3s. Swap meet is ok.
The best swap meet for cheap Type 3 stuff for me seems to be the Sacramento Bug-O-Rama. Their show car turnout is weak though. _________________ How to Post Photos

"i will say it again... the Invasion isn't just about the cars! It is about the people and friendships developed "
kokomo, the above comment is really important. I've been a visitor to the Classic several years ago, and while there are many impressive T3, the owners are often not with the cars, you are distracted by the huge swap area, etc. so that after several hours of the show it goes by like hyper-space.
Having driven to (OK, only a 3 hour trip for me; see a photo of my '70 Fasty in the "gallery" button along the bottom of my response) and attended the '04 T3 Invasion at Hershey PA for 2 1/2 days (I took Friday off), I can say that you are now in a concentrated group of enthusiasts for that entire time. You have so much more chance to meet the folks, go out to breakfast or dinner with them, etc. so that it is really worthwhile. The field where everyone gathers is much more low key than at a typical VW meet, since you know the folks will likely be there at least much of the day, if not the whole time. That was a relaxing event for me instead of rushing around at a usual VW meet here in the NorthEast where there are only a handful of T3 if lucky. Also, the practical "tech sessions" given by the various T3 experts were highly interesting to attend, even if your car does not have a particular problem that the sessions addressed. Those guys really knew their stuff and can certainly instill confidence to you that a particular problem may not be all that difficult or imposing to diagnose.
Nice thing about the Invasion is that many of the participants drove their cars on the tour, as well as driving there in the first place (two long distance guys from Wisconsin and Georgia!!). The driving tour could not be done at a regular VW meet. If you do not drive your T3 to the Invasion and would like to join in the tour, I'd bet that anyone with a T3 would not mind at all to take you along- just need to ask.
If you can take the time off to fly into/drive to (whether in a T3 or not) the next Invasion, I can heartily recommend it!
I might have missed it- what T3 do you have now?

Hell, If you want to, fly into Des Moines, Ia, and some one will pick you up, and you can ride halfway across the USA with a bunch of T-3ers. I am only about 10 miles from the Des Moines airport. In fact, I am on the cross wind leg for 30 R.
At this point, I would kinda like an idea how many people are crashing/rendezvousing at my house. I do have a 3 bedroom house, and 3 showers/bathrooms, but I think people should plan on sleeping bags, and we can stack them like cord wood. _________________ Society is like stew.
