recently while driving my 1964 Notch my red light came on and the motor quit momentarily then started running again. Nothing else turned off, just the motor. Is this a coil problem? It's done it three times over about 100 miles driving but always starts running again within seconds. HMMMMMM??? I've checked out the wiring and it all seems fine, fuses are good, no burning electrical smell. _________________ Going Notchless is not an option |

Just the basics I'd be checking your fuel filter is'nt clogged, check fuel lines for leaks, check your points and spark plugs and make sure you're ignition leads are all fitted tight and have'nt come loose. Does'nt really sound like its anything major wrong. Have you done any work on the notch recently before this problem started? Really makes me think its an intermittent fuel starvation problem. _________________ If it's not in a Volkswagen I'm not going!

Loose connection somewhere- at the starter, generator, or voltage regulator most likely. Could also be an ign. switch issue, but that usually affects other components as well. I'd track it down sooner rather than later. You don't want a live wire coming off something, grounding, and turning the wiring harness into a giant lightbulb filament! _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

I replaced all fuel lines and filters approx 1000 miles ago. Just did a recent tune up 500 miles ago. Checked all connections except the starter, guess I will go there next. It will run fine for hours and then all of a sudden it dies. _________________ Going Notchless is not an option |

I have had coils on cars act like that when they heat up runs fine for hours then shuts off then starts back up after a very short time. |

Loose fuse contact on the main fuse maybe? The "ceramic" fuses that they sell us these days are very poor quality and is made from plastic which gets shorter with some heat... maybe worth a check... |
