Someone apparently couldn't figure out how to remove the ignition switch and added a larger radio at one point. I'm still shopping for a new welder (Mig/gas) to do this replacement. Any ideas on where to "cut and paste" so I can hide the repair? Sorry the pics are a bit on the big side...
Thanks, John

Can you believe that? When I bought the car the ingition was mounted in the righthand hole and the original location was built up with bondo and painted over. That's what it looked like after chipping all the filler off (about a 1/2" thick!).
My main questions are where are the best places to try and seam it back together. I want to fix the radio hole also so I can install a NOS block off plate.
Would it be best to drill the spot welds under the ash tray area and cut at each side of that area straight up to the window opening? _________________ Tehachapi, CA

I have a similar problem with my 64. I am getting almost the same piece you pictured from a donor car to repair the problem. |

if i was doing it,i would try and hide alot of the welds as much as possable.
i would cut it like this
remember to only weld a little at a time or risk warping the metal _________________ Frank
